The Network

The West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition works with a broad group of diverse organizations that are changing food and agriculture state-wide as well as in their individual foodsheds. We put a great emphasis on collaboration in our work: everyone eats, and all West Virginians can benefit from a stronger local-food economy. If you’d like to see your organization listed here, email us at

West Virginia Foodsheds, 2015

What is a Foodshed?

Foodsheds are the workplace of local food. A foodshed includes the area where food is produced, where it is transported, and where it is consumed. Foodsheds include the land where food is grown, the routes food travels, and the markets where food is distributed. Foodsheds also include the people in that system that make it run—farmer, consumer, processor, institution, restauranteur, school, and market managers.
